SAIL Reports

Welcome to the SAIL Analytical Services 2nd annual report. Over the year the team continued to grow to support the increased demand in SAIL Databank and its products and services offered.

This year has been without doubt the most challenging period in the existence of SAIL Databank. The COVID-19 pandemic has led to unprecedented demands for data to support government and NHS emergency planning, and also to support longer term research into all aspects of the virus.

Welcome to the SAIL Analytical Services first annual report. The team was established in 2014 to support SAIL Databank users, over time our services and experience has grown. This report highlights some research projects we are supporting and summarises the services that we currently provide.

The SAIL Databank is partially funded by Welsh Government through Health and Care Research Wales. The SAIL Databank brings together anoymised person level data about the population of Wales from a variety of health and other public services, and provides this as a resource to the research community via a secure portal.

We are delighted to introduce this report on the first 10 years of the pioneering work of the Secure Anonymised Information Linkage (SAIL) Databank as part of our anniversary celebrations. The SAIL Databank began in 2007, and from small beginnings has flourished into a world-class data safe haven.
