World-Leading Databank Honoured with Queen’s Anniversary Prize Award

Queen’s Anniversary Prize Award November 2023

In November 2023, Swansea University was awarded a Queen’s Anniversary Prize in Recognition for Harnessing public data to improve population health and wellbeing through its world-renowned SAIL Databank based at Population Data Science.

The award recognises outstanding work by a college or university that shows quality and innovation, and delivers real benefit to the wider world and public through education and training. It is the highest national Honour awarded in UK further and higher education and prizes are granted by The Monarch every two years.

This success follows on from the Prize being awarded to the SPECIFIC project in 2022 and sees the University joining a very small group of institutions to have won the award with consecutive submissions.

Further Celebrations

On Tuesday 23rd April, the Director, Anna Blackman, and Chief Executive Officer, Nichola Tasker, of the Royal Anniversary Trust visited the Data Science Building as part of a tour of prize winning institutions. During their visit they were given a background to SAIL through presentations, met the people that ‘make things happen’ and joined the teams for refreshments.

This celebration of the Queen’s Anniversary Prize Award was an honour. SAIL Databank is incredibly proud to be recognised for its contribution in utilising public data to enhance population health and wellbeing, and to celebrate its commitment to innovation and the impactful work of the team.
